Shelly's Cuisine presents her version of Homemade Macaroni and Cheese. It's delicious and a family favorite. The best thing about this dish is that we have twisted some of the ingredients, therefore making it a little healthier.

The Ingredients

First of all, gather all the necessary ingredients for this recipe. Place close attention to the quantities and look for any Twist!

-------------------BASE FOR SAUCE------------------
8 oz Breakstone 2% cottage cheese (T)
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp Grey Poupon Country Dijon mustard (T)
------------------------SAUCE-----------------------------
1/2 tsp olive oil
1/4 cup onion, chopped fine (T)
2 Tbsp Grey Poupon Country Dijon mustard (T)
3 Tbsp all purpose flour
2 cups 2% low fat milk, divided
1 tsp Italian herbs then salt and pepper to taste
1 3/4 cups shredded Cracker Barrel Extra Sharp cheddar cheese, divided
1 cup shredded Cracker Barrel Sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
8 ozs dry elbow pasta
1/2 cup Progresso Panko Italian breadcrumbs (do not use regular breadcrumbs)

Shelly, I made the Mac and Cheese today for my family and they loved it! They liked that there was a little kick to it, maybe the onion or mustard?? Thank you for the video, it was very helpful!

This Mac and Cheese dish is a true masterpiece and definitely not made from a box. It may seem time-consuming at first, but it is so delicious that you will be back for seconds. The 'twists' in this dish make this Mac & Cheese AMAZING! I have tried Mac and Cheese before, but the other recipes are not as good as this one. Thanks to Shelly's Cuisine for the amazing recipes which motivate all types of "cooks" to try something new or different.
